Body cold has a lot to do with dieting. In this article, I will discuss the relationship between body cold and diet for those who are trying hard to lose weight but can’t seem to do so. If you have a cold body, please read to the end.
Why you can’t lose weight when your body is cold
Our bodies easily become cold due to our diet, lack of exercise, stress, and lack of sleep. When our bodies get cold, our body temperature drops, blood flow is reduced, and immunity is weakened, and these cold factors make it difficult to lose weight. Fat acts as an insulator to protect the body from the cold, and when the body is cold, the metabolic capacity decreases and fat is more likely to accumulate.
In other words, the body is always cold and tries to maintain body temperature by putting on fat, making it difficult to lose fat even when dieting hard.
Be careful if you are one of these
The following is a summary of the characteristics of those who have difficulty losing fat due to cold body.
- Eats only raw vegetables
- Get stressed easily
- Has stiff shoulders
- Always stay in an air-conditioned room
- Eat little amount of food
- Likes ice cream and cold drinks
- Do not exercise
- Eat a lot of wheat products such as bread and pasta
People who fall into many of these categories are prone to fat accumulation due to cold. We have a minimum energy requirement to live each day. This energy is called “basal metabolism,” and people with low basal metabolism are unable to efficiently convert the nutrients they consume from food into energy, which is easily stored as fat.
When energy is generated in the body, “heat” is produced, but people with low basal metabolism tend to feel “cold” because “heat” is difficult to generate.
Burn fat by preventing cold
Let’s take a look at what you can do to improve cold and make your body easier to burn fat.
Incorporate exercise
The best way to increase a lowered basal metabolism is to increase muscle mass. The more muscle mass you have, the higher your basal metabolic rate and the more energy you will consume. Start by using the stairs in your daily life. Also, since the lower body has large muscles, training the lower body will increase metabolism and make it easier to lose weight.
Eat warm food
Many dieters eat a lot of raw vegetables. While it is wonderful to try to eat vegetables, eating only raw vegetables will cool your internal organs and slow down your metabolism. Especially at night, metabolism is more likely to slow down, so instead of salads, try miso soup, hot pots, or soups with plenty of vegetables.
Do not consume too much sugar
Eating too many sugary, sweet foods causes a rapid increase in the sugar concentration in the blood and a temporary rise in body temperature. When the blood sugar level rises rapidly, insulin causes the blood sugar level to drop all at once, which in turn lowers the body temperature at the same time. Excessive sugar intake leads to a decrease in body temperature, so be careful if you are constantly eating sweet foods.
Wheat products are also said to cool the body. We recommend replacing wheat products with unrefined whole grains, rice flour made from rice, or gluten-free products.
